Medical Report Feedback

Please do;

  • type reports using the InjuriesBoard.ie medical report template (Form B)
  • where at all possible return reports within two weeks of examination
  • provide a view on further costs (private hospital//anaesthetists fees etc.) when further treatment has been suggested
  • recommend (in your view) if a psychiatric referral is or is not necessary (e.g. where anxiety/flashbacks are mentioned)
  • elaborate if you are in a position to arrange an MRI if this is an appropriate course of action
  • mention all current injuries/complaints/symptoms in areas outside of speciality
  • provide a definitive prognosis (or advice on how same can be achieved)
  • provide photographs where there is a visible scarring injury
  • consult with the treating practitioner or organise an MRI if necessary for prognostic purposes
  • be aware of our nine month statutory timeline to make an assessment
  • comment on whether a claim is appropriate for assessment within our timeframes
  • provide more information on back to work situations i.e. timeframe/capacity/absence reasonable etc.
  • in the case of multiple injuries mention the timeframe for recovery of individual injuries if same has occurred
  • confirm specifically where diagnostics have been received/reviewed
  • express range of motion as a % of normal

Please do not;

  • request payment of fees prior to submission of report
  • unless necessary recommend further referral to specialists or for MRIs
  • recommend a follow up examination when a prognosis has been provided
  • submit incomplete reports unless an interim report has been requested
